The thing about social phobia and/or introversion isn’t that you don’t like people. “Liking” a person or group of people is not the problem, introverts and social-phobes love and dislike people just as everyone else does. What it comes down to is energy. The mere act of existing with people takes up energy. Interaction takes up more energy. And interacting with a lot of people takes up even more energy. Think of it like a phone battery. Throughout the day, it drains. It drains faster when you use a function. And it drains even faster when you use multiple functions, until eventually you stop using those functions just to make sure that it stays alive. This is how it feels to be an introvert, and can be even more extreme to someone with social phobia. It’s not being “shy” or “antisocial,” it is the act of simply not having the energy to do something.
